My Mini EDC Tool Kit - Just 5 Items

Simple, compact, useful - but not cheap

I have recently set up a new mini EDC toolkit consisting of just 5 items (kind of). The whole kit fits into the Maxpedition Micro EDC pouch. After years of using varous setups I wanted to create a compact and simple set consisting only of tools that I am most likely to actually use.

My kit contains the following items:

  1. Pocket knife: Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21 Insingo - Although very expensive my first choice for a pocket knife in this set was the Small Sebenza Insingo because it has a very slim profile that fits inside on of the three smaller loops in the Maxpedition Micro, durable construction, great blade steel (S35VN) and a very useful and versatile blade shape (Insingo).
  2. Flashlight: Lumintop Tool AA 2.0 - A compact, straightforward and very functional EDC flashlight. It runs on a single AA or 14500 battery. Max output is 650 lumens. Other features: pocket clip, tail switch, capable of tail standing, silicone diffuser included.
  3. Pliers: Knipex Cobra 87 01 125 - In my experience the Cobra pliers are generally more useful for EDC than regular combination pliers. Therefore I chose the small Knipex Cobra over a Leatherman multitool.
  4. Socket and bit set: Facom R1PICO - Very compact case size that fits inside the sleeve of the Maxpedition Micro (125mm x 33mm x 64mm), it comes with 15 Screwdriver bits and 5 Drive Sockets ¼” drive (6-13 mm), 180° Locking Flex Head Bit Ratchet, 100mm 6 Point Bit Driver Extension, 1/4″ Hex Bit to 1/4″ Drive Socket Adapter
  5. Precision scredriver: PB Swiss Tools PB 169.V01 - The smallest high quality precision screwdriver set I could find (3 reversible blades inside the slim handles).
